Encinitas Ranch Water Recycling Project to Save 14M Gallons a Year

The San Dieguito Water District, the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority, and the Encinitas Ranch Community Association have launched the first phase of the Encinitas Ranch Recycled Water Project. The project is expected to save more than 14 million gallons per year of potable water by converting irrigation systems of the community association, city walking trails, and Fox Point Farms to recycled water.

“Conserving potable water through the use of recycled water at parks, businesses, and homeowner associations is good business and sound environmental policy,” Mayor Kristin Gaspar was quoted as saying in The Coast News.

The San Elijo Water District will sell the recycled water to Encinitas Ranch, which includes 500 homes and is one of the largest residential communities in Encinitas. The water will come from a water reclamation facility owned by the San Elijo Joint Powers Authority.

The Encinitas Ranch Recycled Water Project will be built in multiple phases over the next two years.
